TOP INGREDIENTS AT RISK FOR HEAVY METALS

Jaclyn Bowen, the Executive Director of Clean Label Project (a non-profit focused on health and transparency in consumer product labeling) recently posted an article providing a “cheat sheet” for consumers to be aware of ingredients which may contain toxic heavy metals.  The top offenders on the list include:

  • Chocolate (Cadmium)
  • Rice and rice-based ingredients (Arsenic)
  • Fish-based ingredients (Mercury)
  • Spices (Lead)
  • Water (Lead)
